Irvine, CA – Jamboree Housing Corporation today announced that it has been recognized among the top trendsetters in the multifamily housing industry as part of The National Association of Home Builders’ [NAHB] annual Pillars of the Industry Awards program promoting excellence in apartment design, development, management, and marketing.
“We are honored to be recognized by NAHB as a developer that exemplifies the best in affordable housing,” says Laura Archuleta, Jamboree’s president. Leonard Wood, immediate past chairman of NAHB’s Multifamily Leadership Board and founder of Wood Partners in Atlanta, adds, “This year’s list of finalists is particularly impressive, especially considering the record number of entries we had in many categories. The Pillars of the Industry program rewards true creativity in the development, marketing and management of multifamily housing, and this year’s finalists are the trendsetters for the industry.”
Finalists were selected for superior achievement in 32 categories, including Best Affordable Apartment Community. Jamboree’s Puerto del Sol was chosen because it serves as a signature gateway into the City of Long Beach, embodies the best practices of new urbanism and smart growth and meets the needs of residents while engaging them in a livable environment. According to Michael Massie, Jamboree’s Housing Development Manager and the Project Manager for Puerto del Sol, the City, Jamboree and the architect, KTGY Group, Inc. – with ongoing local community input – worked together to transform 13 substandard units on underutilized land into a 64-home affordable housing community. It’s a four-story compact design transit-oriented property with two-story town homes and flats that exceeds Title 24 energy-efficiency standards by 15%. Puerto del Sol is home to families earning less than 50% of the area median income.
Hundreds of entries—representing apartment and condo communities from across the country— vied for this year’s awards, which are considered among the most prestigious in the housing industry.
Since four of the five finalists are located in California, Archuleta emphasized Jamboree’s commitment to its leadership role in the industry. “The need here is great. Recognition like this inspires us to stay true to our mission to provide opportunity to people with the homes we build and the services we provide throughout all of California. Plus, it provides a great example of what is working for other developers nationwide,” adds Archuleta.
